Board of Trustees candidates sought

The Nomination and Governance Committee of the Board of Governors and Governor Rick Scott are seeking candidates for appointment to the board of trustees of all 12 institutions of Florida’s university system, including Florida International University.

Applications are being accepted for five (5) Trustee vacancies at Florida International University (two by the Board of Governors and three by the Governor’s office), for five-year terms ending January 6, 2021.

The Florida International University Board of Trustees is composed of 13 members: five appointed by the state Board of Governors; six appointed by Florida’s governor; and student and faculty representation by the University’s Faculty Senate chair and student government president. The Board is responsible for establishing cost-effective policies, implementing and maintaining high-quality education programs consistent with the University’s mission, conducting performance evaluations, and assuring that the University meets state policy, budgeting, and education standards.
