Calatayud, Alexis

Calatayud_2015Alexis is a Senior Political Science student in the School of International and Public Affairs. She is a Miami native and graduated from Westwood Christian School.

Alexis has served the FIU student body in multiple capacities. She began her Student Government career serving as SGA Lectures Coordinator, increasing on-campus awareness to issues like Human Trafficking, Community Involvement, Environmental Issues, Governmental Advocacy, and Higher Education concerns. The following year, she was appointed as the SGA’s Governmental Affairs Coordinator, advocating for FIU student interests on the State and Federal Government level, coordinating state lobbying efforts such as the Florida Student Association’s Rally-N-Tally, FIU Day in Tallahassee, and many South Florida district advocacy meetings as well as executing the First Annual Women Who Lead Pre-Conference Leadership Breakfast.

Contributing to Campus diversity, Alexis has also served as a student leader on the Multi-Faith Council and president of StudentsWRITE, a dynamic creative expression CSO club; while participating as an active collegiate member in FIU’s vibrant Greek community.

Her foremost goal is to expand upon the good work of the many visionary Panthers before us; she believes it is our responsibility to continue laying the foundational work of University and Student collaboration to achieve our Worlds Ahead goals for current and future students.
