Claudia Puig is President and General Manager of Local Media in Miami for Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America. Puig oversees UCI’s radio and television stations in South Florida with responsibility for sales, content, digital, finance, operations and community relations.
Puig joined Univision Radio in 1997 and was Senior Vice President, Regional Manager where she was responsible for the overall supervision of operations, finances, sales, business development, and programming for a total of nine Univision Radio stations in Miami, New York and Puerto Rico.
With over 20 years experience in US Hispanic media, Puig was Vice President and General Manager of Spanish Broadcasting Systems prior to joining Univision, where she directed all aspects of sales, marketing, promotions and business development departments at the local and national level. Puig held several positions across advertising and sales at Spanish Radio Network, Tichenor Media, Heftel Broadcasting, HBC, and ATT/BellSouth Yellow Pages.
She has been recognized by Radio Ink Magazine several times as one of the “50 Most Influential Women in Radio” and honored as “Manager of the Year” with the prestigious “Medallas de Cortez” Award in 2012. This year she will be recognized as one of the top 50 most powerful Hispanic Women in US by Fortune Magazine.
Puig currently serves as Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of Florida International University, and has also served on the boards of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, where she chaired the Audit and Finance Committee, the Florida Association of Broadcasters, Hispanic Board of Directors of Aetna, Health Foundation of South Florida, United Way of Miami-Dade, Hispanic Board of the American Cancer Society and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. She is also Florida’s Vice Regent for the Mount Vernon Ladies Association.
She graduated from Miami-Dade College and later attended Florida International University where she majored in International Business and Marketing.
